My Humble Garden

This year I have enjoyed the best garden I have had yet in my 4 years of gardening.

I planted Crooked Neck Squash, Purple Haze carrots and lots of beets. Also, potatoes, corn, peas, beans, lettuce, onions, herbs, tomatoes (which are still very green) and other squashes.

My mom bought me an amazing weeding tool last year. I used it faithfully this year until it didn't stop raining and when it did, it was too late. The weeds had grown and the ground was hard packed. But in the midst of it all, I am able to harvest some yummy produce. So far, I have pickled 80 lbs of beets and still have about 100 lbs more to go. I would like to can some in my pressure cooker for borscht. I still need to harvest all my carrots, which I will dehydrate.

A Little One's Thoughts

I just have a little story I would like to share about Ben today. A few months ago, I had the privilege and joy to lead Ben in receiving Jesus into his heart. I can't tell you what pure joy it is to be apart of this decision with your children. Anyway, Ben is very thoughtful and today we were talking about hearts. Ben said to me, "Is Jesus knocking inside our hearts to get out?" I said no, he just stays there. Ben then asked, "Is there blood in our hearts?" I said yes. Then he said, "Doesn't Jesus get blood all over him?" So, at that point I tried to explain that Jesus is really a spirit and when we say He lives in our hearts, it actually means that Jesus is apart of our lives and we fully trust in Him. I'm sure with his faith and thoughtfulness that Ben will understand this concept in no time. Praise the Lord!
